Looking at Rodions Kurucs’ free agent stock for the Milwaukee Bucks

Acquired as part of the P.J. Tucker deal last month, new Bucks forward Rodions Kurucs has played very limited minutes upon coming to Milwaukee. The Latvian international is averaging 3 points while shooting 5-for-8 from the field (3-for-4 from downtown), 1.8 rebounds and 0.8 assists across his five appearances in a Bucks uniform.

Upon arriving in Milwaukee, though, Kurucs was fresh off of pleading guilty to charges of disorderly conduct from an incident that stemmed from June 2019 after he assaulting his then-girlfriend.

Given that and the lack of role he has yet to really play for the Bucks, Milwaukee will have to make a decision on his $1.8 million team option for next season. It’s hard to imagine the Bucks will pick that option up, even as they do have a need for cost-controlled contracts and players.

And taking into account his off the court incident, it’s fair to wonder what Kurucs’s future in the NBA holds and whether teams will even want to be associated with him in any sense.
