Milwaukee Bucks: Taking stock of every pending free agent case
Looking at P.J. Tucker’ free agent stock for the Milwaukee Bucks
Like Teague, P.J. Tucker is still acclimating to Milwaukee since arriving via trade last month after the Bucks had long made a point in pursuing him throughout the season.
It hasn’t been an easy transition by any means as the veteran forward as he had been sidelined due to a left calf strain that kept him out of action for 11 games. However, when healthy, Tucker has assumed the kind of low-usage, defensive specialist role the Bucks had envisioned long before he came to Milwaukee.
The true test as far as Tucker’s stint will come during the playoffs as he could be leaned on more in difficult matchups, health permitting. And how he fares in those situations will very much determine what kind of contract he could field upon entering free agency in the summer.
One of the many reasons Tucker’s stint in Houston broke down was talks over a contract extension breaking down. Tucker’s clearly not going to get the rich extension he once desired nor will that come from Milwaukee either. And time will tell whether Tucker will finish out his career on anything other than veteran minimum deals.
We’ll just have to see how all these Bucks players and more perform when it matters most and how it will affect their future in Milwaukee. Stay tuned.
