Brook Lopez and Bobby Portis dominate in the Milwaukee Bucks’ win over the Bulls
With Giannis Antetokounmpo sidelined, the Bucks’ typical sixth man Bobby Portis got the nod at the starting power forward slot in this one. This was a reunion game for the 26-year-old big man as he had previously spent the first three-and-a-half seasons of his NBA career with the Bulls.
Playing with that chip on his shoulder, Portis asserted himself with an aggressive approach from the jump and ultimately finished with 16 points on 7-for-10 shooting (1-for-2 from deep). The forward was scoring the ball with ease, knocking down an array of tough shots at every turn, which overshadowed the fact that he tied his previous season-high in rebounds by hauling in 14 on the night. Also snatching two steals and blocking a single shot, it was a great all-around performance from Portis in his return to Chicago.
Portis received some support from his fellow frontcourt mate Brook Lopez, who continues playing the most efficient basketball of his entire career. The veteran finished last night’s matchup by scoring 22 points on 9-for-15 shooting. Attempting just one shot from behind the arc on the night, Lopez continues doing a large portion of his damage closer to the basket during this recent string of games.
Both Portis and Lopez left their mark on this game and undoubtedly propelled the Bucks to victory. The team needed every bit of it as two of the other starters struggled to maintain any shooting consistency throughout the contest.
