Shots just haven’t fallen for Jrue Holiday in the Milwaukee Bucks’ series against the Nets

Watching Jrue Holiday struggle during this Conference Semifinals series has certainly been frustrating at times. While Holiday’s shot selection when it comes to his jumper has been questionable at times, but the same could be said for a lot of Bucks players this series.

To that point, Holiday is 16-for-40 (40 percent) on jump shots against the Nets throughout the playoffs.

Aside from his shot selection, Holiday has been the victim of some bad luck as he’s had several shots go halfway down and roll out or rattle around the rim and come off. What’s encouraging is during game 4 Jrue pushed the issue prioritizing getting to the basket more, which not only created better looks for himself, but his teammates. Holiday is now up to 23 points on 11-of-27 shooting on his 53 driving attempts this series.

The push-and-pull between Holiday settling for a jumper compared to driving into a crowded lane and paint in the at the heart of his struggles.

After playing his most efficient basketball this season, we’ve seen how effective Holiday is as a shot creator. Yet in order to mitigate his jump shooting decencies this series, Holiday putting the ball down on the floor and muscling his way inside the paint may be what’s needed for himself and the Bucks to get fully back on track offensively.

All things considered, there’s room for improvement for Holiday without question. Even still, he’s worked hard to influence the Bucks knotting up this series at 2-2 while playing tenacious defense and finding ways to steady the offense.
