Milwaukee Bucks: 3 takeaways from season series against Atlanta Hawks
The Hawks’ shot creators shined against the Milwaukee Bucks in the season series
Last but certainly not least, Atlanta managed to create headaches for the Bucks offensively throughout their regular season matchups.
Despite the many absences they had in those three games, including two without Young, the Hawks’ ability to create shots off the dribble and from anywhere on the floor is a familiar recipe that has brought down the Bucks in their past playoff runs under Budenholzer.
The Hawks generated the highest pull up points of any Bucks opponent during the regular season and did so on a 56.5 effective field goal percentage. They also shot a blistering 42.7 percent on threes taken from above the break spots during those regular season meetings.
Much like the Bucks saw against the Nets, the Hawks have the personnel that will surely test Milwaukee’s drop defensive scheme and Brook Lopez in particular. Young, in particular, will test the lengths and space the Bucks’ defense, but the fact that the Hawks have Bogdanovic, Kevin Huerter, Danilo Gallinari and Lou Williams that all can surely pack a punch, respectively.
The Bucks’ defense has certainly coalesced as their playoff run has continued and they passed their greatest challenge in the Nets by the skin of their teeth in the Conference Semifinals. While the Hawks don’t have the established scorers on the levels of Kevin Durant, James Harden, Kyrie Irving, they have more offensive threats within their supporting cast that will pose varying problems over this series.
