Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo must refine shot selection against Hawks

Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo delivered one of his biggest performances of his career in the Bucks’ Game 7 overtime win over the Nets last time out.

While he finished the series on an incredibly high note, it took plenty of time for Antetokounmpo to find his formula for success against Brooklyn. Those issues certainly revolve around Antetokounmpo’s willingness to shoot 3-pointers as well as his struggles from the free throw line.

The two-time MVP has shot 9-for-47 from long distance so far this postseason (19.1 percent) and he’s 1-for-13 on 3-pointers taken from 22-18 seconds in the shot clock. That insistence to take early threes and continue to rely on his faulty jumper has been a problem and is far from the best.

If Antetokounmpo puts up those kind of shots against the Hawks, Atlanta will certainly welcome those possessions every time.

At this stage, these concerns go beyond what Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer and his staff can put Antetokounmpo in the perfect position to succeed and thrive offensively. Antetokounmpo has to be disciplined enough to know what his strengths are.
