Milwaukee Bucks need to continue their unselfish play from their Game 3 win of the NBA Finals

Not only was the Bucks’ Game 3 win over the Suns notable for how they dominated the glass, they also got back to installing more ball movement within their offense as the series shifted back home.

Generating 28 assists on 43 made field goals, the Bucks’ 65.1 assist percentage in Game 3 was a marked improvement on the 52.5 and 50 assist percentages they compiled in Games 1 and 2. Along with that, the Bucks’ 3.11 assist-to-turnover ratio is the fifth-highest mark they’ve set for a single game this year, regular season and playoffs combined.

All of that came as a result of the Bucks moving the ball more and doing so in the right spots and at the right times. After 229 passes and 226 passes in Games 1 and 2 against Phoenix, the Bucks upped their total passes to 264 in Game 3.

The best example of the Bucks’ unselfishness came in this transition highlight that was capped off by a Bobby Portis running dunk to put the Bucks up into double digits late in the first half.

As they say, players find more energy when the ball is zipping around and being shared among one another.

We’ve seen this Bucks offense fall into stagnation and get bogged down far too often over their playoff run, even as they have risen above the circumstances. Still, the purpose of playing random, as Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer would put it, is a matter of reading the game as it comes to them and not force anything that isn’t there.

While the Bucks could always use more structure in their offense in terms of incorporating off-ball looks for the likes of Antetokounmpo, it goes beyond just being able to feed and lift their superstar even further.
