The Milwaukee Bucks could pair Nicolas Batum with Giannis Antetokounmpo in 2021 free agency

Already on the record having previous interest in him, fans should not be surprised if the Bucks get linked to Nicolas Batum when free agency kicks off.

Their rumored interest dates back to last November, where the Bucks were one of the six teams interested in targeting Batum after he was waived by the Charlotte Hornets. Despite Milwaukee’s interest, the forward would ultimately sign with the LA Clippers, where he would have a solid year by averaging 8.1 points on a .464/.404/.828 slash line, while hauling in 4.2 rebounds and dishing 2.2 assists per game. The number there that stands out the most is Batum’s 3-point shooting, as his 40.4 percent from deep was the second most efficient mark in his 13-year NBA career.

He proved to be a key role player for the Clippers as they ventured to their first-ever trip in the Conference Finals, and will have several teams looking to pursue him this offseason. Among the contenders that will express interest, the Bucks make sense as a landing spot. Batum’s shooting makes him an easy fit for the Bucks, particularly when hypothetically playing alongside Giannis.

Despite his bounce-back year with the Clippers, Batum’s asking price will likely be somewhere within Milwaukee’s price range. If LA does not prioritize bringing Batum back on another contract for next season, the Bucks could assert themselves into the mix once again.
