Sandro Mamukaleshvili brings an interior scoring punch to the Milwaukee Bucks

Based on his ability to create and handle the ball all the way up the floor, Mamukaleshvili fits right into the Bucks’ fastbreak and up-tempo capabilities.

Mamu, on his own, stands as a one-man fastbreak and his ability to put the ball down the floor and drive in a straight line is the biggest key to his scoring ability. That was certainly seen as he averaged 17.5 points per game as a senior and under his enlarged role.

Per Hoop-Math, 47.4 percent of Mamu’s shots came the rim and he finished his last year with the Pirates converting 55.4 percent of his scoring chances in that area.

Mamu certainly thrives more in end-to-end situations or in the open floor, much like the Bucks do as a whole. And against scrambling defenses, Mamukaleshvili has a variety of finishes in his arsenal that he can turn to as to get to the rack. His aggressiveness is nothing to question either as he averaged 5.5 free throw attempts per 40 minutes this season at Seton Hall.

The scoring threat that Mamukaleshvili poses with the ball in his hands only enhances his scoring ability. It will be interesting to see how a lower usage will affect his overall scoring effectiveness but it’s good to see how intact his driving and finishing skills are going into the next level.

We’ll just have to see what the future holds for Mamukaleshvili in Milwaukee and we’ll surely get our first look at him in a Bucks uniform once Summer League gets underway in Las Vegas next month.
