Rodney Hood will look to return to pre-injury form at small forward for the Milwaukee Bucks

Hood is an intriguing signing for Milwaukee. The seven-year veteran out of Duke has been a journeyman, spending time in Utah, Cleveland, Portland, and Toronto. Unfortunately, Hood has been riddled with injury throughout his career.

Injuries aside, Hood is a reliable shooter and adds excellent depth at the small forward. Hood has hovered around 36 percent from beyond the arc in his career. His 3-point shooting ability will certainly be put to use in Milwaukee’s system. The veteran also has an excellent ability to take care of the ball. Hood has averaged only one turnover throughout his career. The question still remains, however, will Hood be able to get back to pre-injury form?

In 2019, Hood suffered a torn Achilles, sidelining him for the remainder of the season. In his short stint with Toronto, Hood suffered a hip injury that kept him out for an extended time. To add even more, Hood suffered a fracture in his left hand near the end of the season in Toronto. Needless to say, the journeyman has had some unfathomably bad luck with injuries. Hood shows plenty of promise in his ability to make contested shots and share the ball well. However, the question marks surrounding his injury history will cause Milwaukee to be cautious. Hood provides excellent depth for the Bucks and has the skills to thrive in coach Budenholzer’s system. The only thing that could prevent him from seeing meaningful time is his injury history.

If Hood stays healthy, he can contribute to the Bucks in his 3-point shooting. His depth is important, as there will be a reliable third option at small forward for Milwaukee. Hood will be a player to watch throughout the season as he looks to get back to form after his string of injuries. If all goes well, Hood should be a reliable option.

The small forward rotation for Milwaukee boasts plenty of talent. Middleton, Connaughton, and Hood will be able to contribute in numerous ways, from excellent shooting to versatility.
