Goal No. 2 – Brook Lopez could shoot above 36 percent from 3-point range with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021-22

While Lopez unquestionably does his best work offensively when he puts the ball on the floor and post-up — see Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals versus the Atlanta Hawks — the Bucks have consistently used him as a 3-point shooter during his time with the team.

It worked to perfection during his first season with the team as he shot a career-high 36.5 percent from the outside on 6.3 attempts per game. However, he has since struggled to retain that sweet shooting as he regressed mightily during 2019-20 by shooting a mere 31.4 percent from deep and slightly improved by hitting 33.8 percent in 2020-21. Although he has struggled to find relatively any consistency with that shot over his three years with the Bucks, they will continue assuring him to let it fly entering year four.

Lopez’s ability to stretch the floor has made him a great fit next to Giannis Antetokounmpo, who the team is always looking to surround with more shooting. As he looks to help out the reigning Finals MVP, Lopez must look to regain that lethal outside shot that saw him abruptly take the NBA by storm in his first season with the Bucks several years ago. Entering this season, shooting above 36 percent from behind the arc seems like a reasonable goal for the big man.

Although his impressive 36.5 percent clip during 2018-19 might seem like it was lighting in a bottle, the hope is still there that he can return to form this coming season. He will continue to do damage close to the hoop offensively, but knocking down his outside shots with efficiency would obviously go a long way for the Bucks as well.
