Milwaukee Bucks: 3 bold goals for Grayson Allen in 2021-22
By Dalton Sell
Goal No. 3 – Grayson Allen should outright dominate the hustle stats with the Milwaukee Bucks
The Bucks understood the reputation that would follow Allen when they traded for him, as he is certainly a controversial figure in the eyes of many.
Dating back to his days at the collegiate level, Allen has been deemed a pest. He is an agitator, known for some questionable plays and even being called a “dirty player.” While the Bucks will not condone that latter statement, they will embrace the intensity that the guard brings when he steps on the floor. While he will not impact the game every night with scoring, playmaking, or rebounding, he can earn his keep by doing the dirty work with hustle plays.
Diving on loose balls, keeping active hands by getting deflections, and drawing chares are just three hustle metrics that seem tailor-made for Allen to dominate. He is not afraid to sacrifice his body on each play for the betterment of the team, which should help fans warm up to the idea of bringing Allen in — yes, even the Wisconsin Badger fans that root for the Bucks and still hold some animosity toward him stemming from his time at Duke.
Allen is a player that fans hate to see their team play against but love to see him on their side, and he should make an impact in Milwaukee. Always going full speed, Allen should be a staple in stats like loose balls recovered, charges drawn, and total deflections are the three most common hustle stats, and Allen should be featured in those lists throughout the year.
Fans are rightfully excited to see Allen in action with the Bucks, and achieving these three goals would help him carve out a role rather quickly.
