Bobby Portis will look to bring an unmatched level of intensity at center for the Milwaukee Bucks

Bobby Portis, otherwise known as “The Underdog,” had an excellent season in his first year in Milwaukee with a surprisingly eventful campaign.

Becoming a fan favorite in his first year, Bucks fans were ecstatic when it was announced that he would be running it back with Milwaukee in their chase to defend their NBA title. In his first year with the team, Portis averaged 11.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, and one assist.

Remarkably, Portis landed himself as the third-best 3-point shooter in the NBA last season with a 47.1 percent 3-point percentage. Portis has a tremendous ability to space the floor and brings a Thanasis type of energy off the bench. Portis gets the crowd going in the Fiserv Forum and certainly gets the team going by bringing a spark off the bench.

In year two, Portis will look to increase his role. He was a sixth-man for Milwaukee in his first season, and his versatility paid off in important stretches of the regular season and postseason. Portis has the ability to play the five due to his intensity. There are some limitations on defense, but Portis has the ability to finish at the rim. With a strong supporting cast, Portis will be able to contribute in multiple positions.

The Underdog will be prepared whenever his number is called, as he has stayed ready and locked in throughout stretches where he received less playing time than usual. Portis is an important piece to Milwaukee in his versatility and intensity. He will certainly be looking at a big payday if he brings another productive season in his second year with the Bucks.
