Jordan Nwora can look to crack the rotation for the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021-22

Obviously, this third goal can’t happen without Nwora achieving the first two set out for him, but this is the ultimate goal for him this season. That’s not to say it won’t happen in another year, but there’s a decent amount of expectation for him coming into the year with the Bucks after some of the performances he’s had, so it would be ideal to build on that.

He’s still young (turning 23 in early September) and has room to grow as a player, but he already has traits that can help the Bucks in the short term, specifically as a shooter. He shot a blistering 45.2 percent from three on 2.1 attempts per game (8.1 attempts per 36 minutes) with a 3-point attempt rate of 45.9 percent. According to Stathead (subscription required), only five players shot the three at a better clip with at least a 40 percent 3-point attempt rate.

But there are some things he needs to iron out, like most young players and specifically second round picks. Those things could keep him out of the rotation once again, but I’d like to at least see him get some more looks this year. After only playing in 30 of 72 games last year, I’d like to see him get to at least 60 games in a full 82 game season. Ideally, we get to see him at around 65-70 games (factoring in some G-League time early on), but I’ll settle for 60 games.

From a minutes perspective, between 15-18 minutes per game seems like an attainable number after averaging 9.1 minutes a night last year. It’ll be a battle with the Bucks bringing in some outside help and adding some competition for spots, specifically with Hood being a very similar player. But that can also work in his favor as someone who can help mentor Nwora to helping him become a solid role player.

Nwora could put the Bucks in a tough position for figuring out rotation minutes if he can refine some of the areas with question marks in his game, but it’s never a bad problem to have too many useful rotation players.
