Rodney Hood can have a career resurgence with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021-22

By far the most obvious candidate for a player to have a career resurgence on this Bucks team is Rodney Hood. He’s 28 as of this writing and will turn 29 very early on in the season, so he’s right at the age where a player is slowly coming out of their prime but can still have some valuable years left in the league.

The entirety of Hood’s resurgence centers around his health and how he’ll look after nearly two full years removed from his devastating Achilles injury that he suffered with the Portland Trail Blazers in 2019. Similar to Hill, Hood was in the midst of a career-best season prior to the injury. Hood was shooting nearly 50 percent from 3-point range and, as you could probably guess, also had a career-high true shooting percentage at the time as well (62.5 percent).

Hood did not look anywhere close to the same player last season, posting a dreadful 45.2 percent true shooting across 55 games with the Trail Blazers and Toronto Raptors.  Hood has suffered numerous injuries throughout his career, which has limited him to 396 games out of a possible 556 in his seven-year career. That is 71 percent of the total games he could have played in his career. For comparison, Hill has played in 79 percent of his possible 1,031 games, and Khris Middleton has played in 81 percent of his possible 719 games (which includes a 27-game rookie season and a 29-game season where he suffered a brutal hamstring injury).

Health is the first goal for Hood to have a career resurgence, and if he is, a strong bounce season should hopefully follow. It’s easy to root for a guy like Hood since injuries aren’t something that are really within a player’s control, and someone with the potential to have a long career but to have it potentially cut short is something no one wants to see.

Although it may not be likely that all three do, there’s reason to believe in all three of these players to have a career resurgence.
