Revisiting Donte DiVincenzo’s 2020-21 goals with the Milwaukee Bucks: No. 1 – Work on offensive consistency

Consistency had been a massive issue for DiVincenzo throughout his first two years with the Bucks, and that tradition carried on into year three.

For whatever reason, the guard has rarely managed to put the pieces together and consistently string together solid performances. While his shooting was solid on the season as a whole, it did vary drastically on a game-to-game basis. The same goes for his scoring, which was either hot or cold depending on the night. The perfect example of this comes in a three-game stretch in April this past season. Here is a look at his stat lines from three straight performances.

  • 4/6/21 – Six points, 2-for-8 field goal shooting (2-of-6 from deep)
  • 4/8/21 – 22 points, 7-of-13 field goal shooting (6-of-10 from deep)
  • 4/11/21 – Nine points, 4-of-12 field goal shooting (1-of-7 from deep)

To give him his due, DiVincenzo had a career year scoring the basketball in addition to his improved shooting. Averaging 10.4 points per game, the guard took another step in the right direction as an improved scorer, but it did not come easy. He undoubtedly weathered the highs and the lows as he would either look fantastic or practically unbearable offensively most nights. While his role does not solely revolve around scoring as the team relies on his defense and rebounding, they would like to see him take leaps as a scorer, obviously.

Working on that consistency remains a goal for DiVincenzo heading into the 2021-22 season just as it was last year. With a year of starting experience under his belt, he should feel comfortable in the role next year, and with a handful of reasons to be motivated, he should look to prove that he can be a consistent player.

DiVincenzo is a solid player as it stands, but if he can figure out his consistency woes, the sky is still the limit for him.
