2021 Milwaukee Bucks training camp battle: Donte DiVincenzo vs. Grayson Allen

This battle has been the biggest talking point of Milwaukee’s offseason, and it is clear to see why it has gained so much hype. In all likelihood, Donte DiVincenzo or Grayson Allen will be the starting shooting guard for the Bucks on opening night and seeing how the two fare in training camp will be the deciding factor.

The biggest uncertainty in the argument for either player is DiVincenzo’s health. Of course, the guard suffered a season-ending injury in this past postseason and the team has mostly kept his progress a secret after his surgery. His status for opening night still remains up in the air at the moment, and adding Allen, a player that players the same position, was perhaps a way of hinting that the Bucks wanted a piece that could fill in as DiVincenzo continues healing.

If both players are healthy entering training camp, this will be the biggest battle to monitor. Both players are entering their fourth NBA seasons and will be restricted free agents after the season officially concludes. That should add some extra motivation for each player. For DiVincenzo, he has plenty to prove as he enters his fourth season with the Bucks, and Allen has a chance to shine with the defending champions in a potential starting role.

Everything about this supposed competition is must-see television, and if only we could be a fly on the wall in the practice facility when camp opens. Just to reiterate, health will be the biggest factor here, and we hope DiVincenzo is back to full strength so he and Allen could bring some intensity to 2021 training camp.
