Free agents the Milwaukee Bucks rightfully did not pursue – Andre Drummond

As I mentioned with Kanter, the Bucks need to surround Antetokounmpo with shooters to maximize his effectiveness. Adding Andre Drummond to the Bucks, whether it was after his buyout last season or during this offseason, would only make things harder for Antetokounmpo.

Drummond has a similar play style to Kanter but is just better at scoring and rebounding. However, Drummond has mammoth-sized problems when it comes to free throw shooting, just 47 percent for his career. The Bucks already had to listen to the free throw chants all throughout the playoffs whenever Antetokounmpo stepped to the line, and they certainly would not want to go through that again with a worse shooter in Drummond.

Not only that but Drummond is really only effective in the paint on offense, so not only would he be keeping an extra defender near the rim when Antetokounmpo attacks, but he can’t be trusted to knock down free throws if he gets fouled after getting the ball passed to him. As for his 3-point shot, Drummond is just 15-of-111 (13.5 percent) for his career. That lackluster number does not fit with the Bucks whatsoever, and the fit would have been a disaster from the start.
