The Milwaukee Bucks should be excited about George Hill in 2021-22

In a somewhat surprising move, the Bucks signed George Hill to a two-year deal in free agency to fill their backup point guard slot. Hill had a rather ugly exit from Milwaukee as he was included in the Jrue Holiday trade package during the 2020 offseason. Yet, he assured everyone during his media availability that there is no bad blood with the team and that he is excited to be back.

"“They had to make that trade to get a guy like Jrue, which is a no-brainer in any situation. He’s one of the best point guards in the league in many people’s eyes. It’s no hard feelings, but to come back here, where I’m familiar with my brothers here by my side, the coaching staff that I have a lot of respect for, it’s an easy transition. I’m happy to be back with these guys, I’m happy for the success that they had this year, and I can’t wait to get going.”"

Fans should be just as excited to see Hill back in action. There will be absolutely zero disrespect to NBA champion Jeff Teague, who played this role for the Bucks last season, but Hill is a massive upgrade at the backup point guard position. Hill brings elite shooting, solid playmaking, and some underrated defense to the table in a system he is very familiar with. A point guard tandem of Hill and Holiday is lethal, which should give the Bucks a quality floor general on the court at all times.
