Milwaukee Bucks: Analyzing 20-25+ minute rotational players for 2021-22
By Jacob Maier
George Hill will look to earn key rotational minutes in his return to the Milwaukee Bucks
In a somewhat surprising move, a former Buck has returned. George Hill, the veteran guard, is looking to earn himself some time once again with some unfinished business left on the table.
Hill will likely back up Jrue Holiday in his return. Holiday is a player who will certainly have a heavy workload, which may take some time away from Hill. However, when Holiday needs a break, Hill will be the next man up. After spending some time in Oklahoma City and Philadelphia, Hill provided promising shooting potential in his time on the court. If that remains true, he should be able to earn some time similar to the time he earned in his years in Milwaukee. Despite being away from Milwaukee for a year, he will still have some familiarity with the system.
That will be dividends to the Bucks as his presence in the second unit facilitator role will be key to keeping Milwaukee’s hopes at retaining their NBA championship alive. Hill hovered around 20 minutes per game in his two seasons in Milwaukee. If he serves as Holiday’s backup, it is likely he will see around the same time in the coming season. Hill’s potential as a scorer and his veteran presence will be key to his role as the second unit facilitator.
Hill is an exciting addition, and he should have an easy path to earning some rotational minutes. Look out for the vet in his return to Milwaukee. There will be plenty of contributors in the rotation next season. Players such as Portis, Connaughton, Allen, and Hill will likely see a larger role in Milwaukee’s second unit.
Be sure to keep an eye on all of these players as the 2021-22 NBA season gets underway.
