Takeaways from Milwaukee Bucks’ preseason loss to the Memphis Grizzlies: Grayson Allen shines in his team debut
All eyes were on Grayson Allen as he was set to make his Bucks debut versus his former team in the Grizzlies. The team’s offseason discourse has largely revolved around him as trading for him was their biggest move, and he is slated to play a big role for the defending champs. He showed a glimpse into the future with a solid showing in the preseason.
Allen finished with 13 points, second to only Nwora. He did it incredibly efficiently, having knocked down five of his eight shots from the floor, including three of his six triples. That knack for scoring and shooting the basketball are two reasons why the team traded for him in the offseason, and although he was unable to show it with players like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton on the floor, he should not have any problem once they join him. In fact, playing alongside those two and the rest of this Milwaukee team at full strength should only make Allen better.
While it is just one game, a preseason one also, Allen looks like he should fit right in with his new team in Milwaukee. There is still plenty of preseason basketball left to be played, and only time will tell if Allen can keep his foot on the gas. Despite the opening preseason loss, Allen proved to be a bright spot for the team, and he stands as the biggest takeaway of the night.
Be sure to catch the Bucks in action again Friday night as they travel to face the Brooklyn Nets at 6:30 p.m. CST on NBA TV.
