Milwaukee Bucks — Giannis Antetokounmpo can learn something from sharpshooter Klay Thompson

No, I am not saying that the Greek Freak should mimic Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson, who is known for his catch-and-shoot ability. No, I am not saying that he should strictly spot up around the perimeter. Something that he can mirror from Thompson is his free-throw routine.

Flashback to the 2020-21 playoffs. Every game, Antetokounmpo would continue to draw multiple fouls and leave so many points at the free-throw line. Add on the jeers from opposing crowds making things even harder, which was undeniably the case throughout the playoffs, and there could have been some results that favored Milwaukee in even bigger ways had some of those free-throws been converted.

It does not have to be picture-perfect in comparison to Thompson, but one thing that has helped him stay atop some of the best free throw shooters in the game is his routine. Quick, methodical, and short helps the rhythm of the entire shot and follow through. Thompson is an 84.8 percent free throw shooter for his career, so the results speak for themselves.

Sometimes, it looks like Giannis either takes too much time or is in a rush to put up free throws. If he can find the happy medium, it will allow him to increase his scoring average exponentially. This has been among the weakest aspects of his game as he has shot just 71.1 percent from the line for his career, but some major improvements would help take him to another level.
