One big question for each member of the Milwaukee Bucks big three: Will Giannis Antetokounmpo master his post moves?

The easy question would be about Giannis Antetokounmpo‘s free throw shooting, whether the championship will ease his mind at the line, and he can put those struggles behind him. But the bigger question to me will be about the post moves that Antetokounmpo has slowly started to add into his game over the last few seasons.

The focus has always been on Antetokounmpo’s jump shot, but for me the biggest factor will be if he can perfect and master his post moves, to make him a bigger threat with his back to the basket. You don’t want him posting up like that all the time, but it will eventually make his face-up game easier for him and harder to guard for his opponents.

According to NBA.com/stats, Antetokounmpo shot 47.6 percent from 5-14 feet away from the basket which includes his hook shots, post fades, and push shots. It was something we saw him go to a lot during the Nets series when he was often walled off from getting to the rim by multiple bodies.

Being able to master those post moves will make things easier when going up against those multiple bodies in future playoff series (also known as the Giannis Wall), as opposed to always relying on kicking the ball out to his teammates and hoping they make shots. Antetokounmpo feasts at the rim and if he can continue to feast even more just outside the rim, I’m not sure how teams will be able to defend him other than sending hard doubles when he catches or just living with him posting up.

Each member of the big three has something to work on and it was a theme during media day this year that the team as a whole doesn’t want to be complacent after their championship. This isn’t meant to dump on the Bucks’ three best players or call them out for their faults. They all had huge moments in the playoffs, with their highs far outweighing their lows, but it’s something to look out for this season.
