Bold Prediction No. 2 – Jrue Holiday averages eight+ assists in 2021-22 with the Milwaukee Bucks

Holiday has only averaged eight assists per game in one season in his career, and that was all the way back in 2012. However, he has consistently been above six assists per game (he was at 6.1 last year with the Bucks) most seasons and averaged 7.7 assists per game as recently as 2018.

As previously mentioned, Jrue did take some time to get going last year given that he was on a new team with a weird offseason due to COVID. His slow start brought his averages down a bit, as he dished out just 5.3 assists before February and didn’t have any games with double-digit assists. Then, in the final two months of the season, he really started to hit his stride and averaged 7.3 assists per game, with nine games of double-digit assists. In his 23 playoff games, Holiday averaged 8.7 assists per game with seven games of double-digit assists, although his minutes per game did go up quite a bit from the regular season.

Holiday clearly has shown that he can put up high assist averages, and this Bucks team has even more shooters and scorers than they did last season. They now have Grayson Allen, Rodney Hood, George Hill, and an improved Jordan Nwora for Holiday to pass the ball to and potentially record more assists. It would take a lot for him to reach eight assists per game, but these are bold predictions and it does not seem out of the realm of possibility given the way he finished last year.
