The Milwaukee Bucks could dangle Brook Lopez in trade talks

The least likely of the three players featured in this article to be moved is Brook Lopez. Finding big men that can space the floor on offense and play elite interior defense is a very difficult task. However, Lopez is 33 years old. His motor is not what it used to be, and it showed at times during the playoffs last year.

Lopez is a key piece to the Bucks roster, but if he were to get off to a slow start and they decided that they wanted to get younger at the center position and create some cap space in the process (Lopez is owed just over $26 million over this season and next), they could be persuaded to move him. Center depth has been a concern for the Bucks recently, and they could look across to the NBA to fix that problem.

Myles Turner is a name that comes to mind that would check a lot of boxes for the Bucks and is under contract for this season and next season. Turner shot 33.5 percent from deep and was a leading candidate for Defensive Player of The Year early last season. Turner finished as the league leader in blocks averaging 3.4 blocks per game. Turner would be a dream addition to the roster to bolster this defense alongside players like Antetokounmpo and Holiday.

Jonas Valančiūnas could also be an option from a rebuilding Pelicans team. Valančiūnas shot just under 37 percent behind the 3-point line and while he doesn’t have the defensive statistics Turner does, Valančiūnas has been in the league for a long time and has a reputation for being tough and not taking stuff from anyone. The Bucks could certainly use that in their title defense as they now have a massive target on their back.

While there is no guarantee that the Milwaukee Bucks will trade any of these three players or any others, it would be foolish to think a contending team would completely distance themselves from any potential trade talks that could improve the roster and help defend the championship.
