3 Milwaukee Bucks who were snubbed from the NBA 75 list: Sidney Moncrief

It hurts my soul that I don’t see more people talking about Sidney Moncrief as a snub from the NBA 75 list. As one of the absolute best defenders to ever play the game, regardless of era, it’s a shame that people don’t recognize him more often, and being on the NBA 75 list would have been a great start.

Most Bucks know just how spectacular Moncrief was and how important he is in the franchise’s history, but for those that are unaware, here are some numbers. Moncrief played 695 games for the Bucks and averaged 16.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.2 steals. At his peak, he was averaging over 20 points per game with nearly six boards and five assists as well as a steal and a half per game. Naturally, his number 4 was retired very quickly by the Bucks organization.

His accolades maybe even more impressive as he’s a five-time All-Star, five-time All-NBA, five-time All-Defense, and two-time Defensive Player of the Year in addition to being a Hall of Famer. He was one of the leaders of those great, but underrated Bucks teams in the 80s that never quite got over the hump.

His peers all recognized just how great Moncrief was, so hopefully, he gets some love when the NBA 100 list rolls around or if the NBA wants to capitalize on the engagement again with an NBA 85 or 90.
