How will the Milwaukee Bucks try to contain the Minnesota Timberwolves dynamic duo of KAT and Anthony Edwards?

If there’s one primary goal when playing the Wolves, it’s trying to contain their superstar center Karl-Anthony Towns and budding superstar sophomore Anthony Edwards. The two are on an absolute tear through three games, with both averaging over 25 points per game.

KAT has long been one of my favorite players to watch and he’s having another fantastic start to the season and as arguably the best shooting big man ever, he’s someone that will give the Bucks problems. Edwards has ascended after a tough start to his rookie season and is flourishing under Finch after coming in midway through last year.

I wrote about their two-man game early in Finch’s tenure, how lethal it looked at the time, and with more experience playing together and in their coach’s offense, they’ve taken another step. They have great chemistry and have been their most consistent forms of offense through three games as D’Angelo Russell and Malik Beasley have struggled to get going at that end of the floor.

It will be a test for the Bucks’ perimeter defense to try to contain their dribble handoff game and force players like Middleton and Grayson Allen (or Jrue Holiday, if he’s available) to fight over screens to deny Edwards the ball. It will also put stress and emphasis on Giannis Antetokounmpo’s ability as a rim protector and a test for how well he’s grown as a traditional center when guarding Towns in those actions with Edwards to not get too aggressive.

Containing those two is truly cutting off the head of the snake for the Wolves’ offense, but it will not be an easy task.
