Jordan Nwora has logged 13 assists for the Milwaukee Bucks, nearly doubling his entire output from last season already

One of the biggest gripes with Nwora throughout his rookie season was his unwillingness to pass the basketball, as he tallied just seven assists in 274 minutes. While the Bucks did not draft him to pass the ball, it would have been nice to see the forward get his teammates involved rather than consistently forcing shots when they were not good looks.

It seems like Nwora has taken that to heart as he has already tallied 13 assists throughout eight games, nearly doubling his output from the 2020-21 season. That is significant because he has played 91 fewer minutes right now than he did all of last season, so the progression is there for everyone to see. According to NBA.com/stats, Nwora’s favorite passing target is Antetokounmpo, as he has thrown 33 passes in his direction throughout these games. It is a great sign to see him develop that chemistry with the two-time MVP early. He’s certainly an easy target.

Nwora’s scoring ability will be his calling card, but his passing, along with his aforementioned play on the defensive end, will help make him a more complete player. He has shown strides with his passing throughout this brief stretch of games, and it will be worth monitoring to see whether he can keep up these efforts. With seven turnovers, there is still some work to be done, but he is using these passing instincts early to create for others.
