Jrue Holiday’s ugly performance against the Boston Celtics is not overcomeable for the Milwaukee Bucks

Without three typical starters in Antetokounmpo, Middleton, and Lopez, all eyes were fixated on Jrue Holiday and what he would do for the Bucks. Well, it was far from Holiday’s greatest outing, to put it lightly.

The guard finished with 17 points on a grueling 6-of-25 field goal shooting. Wherever he was on the floor, Holiday could not buy a basket. His finishing inside was abysmal, as he missed several close shots at the hoop. However, that was overshadowed by his poor 3-point shooting. Holiday shot a disheartening 1-of-12 from behind the arc against Boston, struggling mightily to find the bottom of the net for most of the night. He finally saw one go down late in the game, but every other shot was frustrating. The confidence is admirable, but it was not his night.

One bright spot was that Holiday finished with 13 assists. With his own shot not falling, the guard looked to get his teammates more involved, and it worked on several occasions. This was evident late where he fed Grayson Allen for a trio of late threes, which was certainly the correct decision rather than trying to force his own shot, which he had done on multiple occasions in the matchup previously. More on Allen’s hot shooting night in a moment.

All in all, it was a tough night for Holiday, and most of the blame will be directed in his direction. These brutal shooting nights are bound to happen, but it could have certainly come at a different time when the Bucks were not already down three starters. Perhaps it says something about the strong efforts from the supporting cast to send this game to overtime despite Holiday’s abysmal shooting night. One player that led the charge in that regard was Allen.
