Following a preseason stint with the Milwaukee Bucks, Tremont Waters has been impressive for the Wisconsin Herd early on

After two years with the Boston Celtics, the Bucks brought in Tremont Waters to get some action in the preseason. The LSU product showed some flashes while running the point, but considering that the Bucks already had their third-string point guard in Justin Robinson locked in on a two-way deal, Waters always faced an uphill battle trying to make the final roster cut. Instead, he would join the Herd, and he has been impressive thus far.

Waters has been scoring the basketball with incredible efficiency by tallying 20 points per night on 58.3 percent field goal shooting and 58.8 percent from deep. He has been practically unguardable over these first few games with his scoring, but Waters has been far from one-dimensional as he also leads the Herd with 6.7 assists per game. His playmaking has been fantastic as he continues to orchestrate this offense. Just like the aforementioned Tucker, Waters is also making plays on the defensive end by tallying 2.3 steals per game.

The Herd have been known for their point guards in recent memory, with Frank Mason III winning the 2019-20 G-League MVP and teammate Jaylen Adams finishing second. With neither of those two with the team, Waters looks like he will be the next point guard in line to take the reigns and lead this Herd team. Given what he has shown early, it will be fascinating to see whether or not he can keep up these efforts.
