The Wisconsin Herd’s bigs have been one of the most intriguing groups in their 3-0 start

Despite Tucker and Waters leading the way in scoring, the Herd have had important contributions from their bigs to begin the season. With players such as Gabriel and Javin DeLaurier taking the helm as the big men for the Herd, both have provided plenty to be excited about in the frontcourt.

As discussed before, Gabriel is currently the Herd’s third-leading scorer. Gabriel, the 6-foot-9 power forward, has taken a larger role in being the Herd’s rim protector. In the first three games, Gabriel has certainly done an excellent job in that role. Averaging nearly two blocks on the season along with two steals, Gabriel has been a force on the defensive end. Along with his strong play on the offensive end, Gabriel has been one of the most impressive players for Wisconsin’s bigs. The Bucks could use a player of his caliber right now as they struggle with injuries to the frontcourt.

DeLaurier has rounded out the bigs rotation for the Herd and has done an excellent job as the second option for Wisconsin. Averaging a block per game, he has been a reliable option as a rim protector. DeLaurier has also grabbed nearly five rebounds per game, giving the Herd plenty of second chances. Whatever way you look at it, the big men for the Wisconsin Herd have been extremely important in their 3-0 start, and they will continue to do so.

As the Herd continue to roll, their bigs will play an important part in their game plan. The bigs will have even more depth if Sandro Mamukelashvili spends time with the Herd this season, but that has yet to happen due to how shorthanded the champs are.
