The Milwaukee Bucks should be thankful for the acquisition and signing of Grayson Allen in the offseason

The Bucks got Grayson Allen for practically nothing in the offseason. They gave up Sam Merrill, who was the very last pick of the 2020 draft, and two future second round picks, which they had acquired when trading their 31st overall pick in this past year’s draft. So essentially, they used the last pick of the first round on Allen.

At the time, people liked the deal but didn’t expect Allen to perform the way he has so far with the Bucks. Grayson has been one of the best 3-point shooters in the league this season, shooting 42.3 percent on 7.8 attempts per game. That 3-point percentage is the highest in the league among players attempting seven or more threes per game.

In the eight games where Khris Middleton was out this season, Allen stepped up big time, putting up 18.3 points per game on over 50 percent from three. He has gotten a lot of wide-open looks as a result of the attention that Giannis Antetokounmpo generates and has been one of the most reliable shooters the Bucks have had in recent memory. Milwaukee already extended him on a two-year deal worth $20M, which is looking like a huge bargain.

Allen will be key to another title run in the coming seasons for the Milwaukee Bucks, and they got him for next to nothing and have him on a great contract.
