No. 2 – DeMarcus Cousins brings veteran experience to the Milwaukee Bucks

At the end of the day, the Bucks are competing for a championship, and they are doing it mostly with veteran talent. They needed a body at the center position and a player with Cousins’ resume was their best bet. While injuries have hindered the 31-year-old’s productivity over the past few seasons, he is still a four-time All-Star, two-time All-NBA honoree, and formerly the best center in the association. Cousins’ experience will prove crucial, given Milwaukee’s lofty aspirations to bring the Larry O’Brien home for the second consecutive year with another championship run. While he might only see somewhere around 10-15 minutes, if that, of playing time nightly while Lopez recovers, that is all the Bucks truly need.

He will be a solid addition to the second unit and his experience should pay dividends. For reference, the Bucks tried baptizing rookie center Sandro Mamukelashvili by fire early on this season by throwing him into the lineup. No one truly expected the second round draft choice to see many minutes for the Bucks, but with both Portis and Lopez missing time, he would get his shot. Mamukelashvili looked understandably lost at times, which is part of the process for a young player. He will now get meaningful reps with the Wisconsin Herd instead of trying to guard James Harden out on the perimeter. Cousins can be the veteran piece that the Bucks needed at the center position, as he understands what it is like to play at this level.
