Milwaukee Bucks: 2021-22 quarter grade for Bobby Portis

Bucks fans rejoiced this past offseason when Bobby Portis decided to stay in Milwaukee on a team-friendly deal. Right now, it looks like that contract is one of the best value deals in the NBA as Portis is playing the best basketball of his career in Lopez’s absence. The big man is averaging 15.4 points and 8.4 rebounds per contest, both of which are career bests. He has been fantastic in the starting five, giving the Bucks a massive boost as he continues to shoot the lights out and play with ever-lasting energy. Some have even wondered if Portis could be the permanent starter for the Bucks at center after Lopez returns due to his incredible play this season. That is a discussion for another time, but there is no denying that Portis has been sensational in his role this season.

Milwaukee Bucks: 2021-22 quarter grade for Pat Connaughton

Sticking with role players that have stepped up for the Bucks this season, Pat Connaughton has been on a tear throughout the first quarter of 2021-22. The veteran is averaging career-highs in points, made field goals, 3-point makes, rebounds, steals, minutes, and several other categories. He has played a significant role for the champs over these 21 games and they are certainly glad to have him in the fold. Connaughton is just one of two Bucks to appear in every game this year, and he continues to light it up on a nightly basis as he has become the embodiment of the perfect role player for this title-contending team. Imagine someone saying that just over a year ago.
