DeMarcus Cousins should enjoy joining forces with Giannis Antetokounmpo on the Milwaukee Bucks

Cousins briefly played with another All-Star big man in Anthony Davis on the Pelicans, and if he enjoyed that, he will love playing with Giannis Antetokounmpo. It is no secret that players tend to thrive when they are placed alongside the Greek Freak, and Cousins should be no exception as he looks to make his mark with the Bucks.

For instance, look at how well Portis has played this season. The big man is averaging career bests in points, made field goals, 3-point makes, and rebounds. A massive reason for that increase in his production has been the significant role given to Portis after being promoted into the starting five without Lopez available. Yet, due to the attention given to Antetokounmpo nightly, Portis has been able to thrive as opposing teams remain focused on slowing down the two-time MVP.

While Cousins will not be as vital as Portis to Milwaukee’s success, he can use Antetokounmpo’s gravity to his benefit as well. The former All-Star will get no shortage of open looks offensively in lineups with Antetokounmpo, and he will have to take advantage. Cousins has never been a great outside shooter, but as seen with both Portis and Lopez during their time with the Bucks, playing with a passer like Antetokounmpo can help improve that 3-point stroke mightily. If he can knock down a few triples here and there and hold up defensively, Cousins will be in great shape for this Milwaukee team.

Keep an eye on how Cousins plays alongside these three Bucks as he looks to help the team in their quest to win another championship. If there is anywhere for the 31-year-old to resurrect his career, it is alongside such a great group of players in a championship culture.
