Clutch Points’ third trade target for the Milwaukee Bucks: Myles Turner

The Bucks have had some issues at the center position early this year. Big man Brook Lopez has appeared in just one game this season due to back soreness, which he recently elected to have a procedure on. Lopez will be sidelined indefinitely, and although the Bucks have a decent one-two punch at the position in Bobby Portis and DeMarcus Cousins, some have discussed Myles Turner and how well he would fit in with the champs.

Turner would be a match made in heaven on both ends of the floor for the Bucks. Defensively, he has cemented his status as one of the best shot-blockers in the league today, having led the NBA in blocks twice. The Bucks are known for their reliance on protecting the interior, and adding a big man like Turner would help tremendously in the absence of Lopez. A lineup with Antetokounmpo, Holiday, Turner, and two others would nightmarish for opponents.

Offensively, Turner would also be a great fit as he is currently having a career year shooting the long ball. The big man is knocking down 40.5 percent of his 3-pointers on 4.6 attempts per game this season, which has unlocked another level of his game. The Bucks would put that shooting to good use as Turner would provide more floor spacing, which would make him a great fit alongside Antetokounmpo in Budenholzer’s system.

Just like every trade target mentioned, the biggest issue here is navigating the financial trouble. Turner will make $17.5 million this season, meaning the Bucks would have to shake things up to create a worthy package for the Indiana Pacers. That package would almost certainly include the Bucks’ typical starting center in Lopez, which would be a hot topic of conversation. Would they be willing to part ways with Lopez to find the center of the future in Turner? He is younger and seems to be getting better, so it would be interesting to consider. Yet, it remains unlikely.
