Bleacher Report’s second trade target for the Milwaukee Bucks: Cory Joseph

The Bucks have had a carousel of household backup point guards over the past year with names like D.J. Augustin, Jeff Teague, and George Hill all taking the mantle. Bleacher Report suggests that they should look to add another name to the point guard laundry list with Cory Joseph, who is now playing for the Detroit Pistons.

Joseph has been a serviceable backup floor general throughout his career over numerous different stops. The 30-year-old has provided solid scoring and playmaking wherever he goes, which could be useful for a Milwaukee team that currently ranks 27th in bench scoring and 29th in assists this season. Making $4.9 million this season, Joseph would also not be the most difficult trade target to bring aboard from a financial perspective if the Bucks desired.

The only thing about a trade for Joseph is that the Bucks already have a backup point guard in Hill that makes less money, is more productive, and has already proven to be a good fit in this system. Although Joseph is much younger than Hill, it would not make sense for the champs to trade away Hill to bring in a different guard that many would not view as much of a floor raiser. It would also be wild to see the Bucks trade away Hill for the second time in just over a year. It made sense the first time because Jrue Holiday was on the other end, but Joseph is not the same needle-mover.

Verdict: Pass
