Extending Khris Middleton proves that Milwaukee Bucks GM Jon Horst is among NBA’s best

Every Bucks fan knows that Khris Middleton is good.

Regardless of what we know to be true now, that was not always the case. Prior to last season’s championship run, there was what could basically be summed up as a Civil War among Bucks fans. There was one side of fans that believed that Middleton is good and another side that thought that a team could never win the NBA Championship with Middleton as their second option. It turned out that a team can win a title with Middleton as their second option.

The Bucks extended Middleton in the 2019 offseason after coming off of an Eastern Conference Finals run. The fans that thought that Middleton wasn’t good enough to be the team’s second option thought that giving him near max money was an overpay. This is just another example of why Jon Horst should never be doubted.

During the playoffs of the team’s championship run, Middleton delivered enormous performances and big shots many times. Middleton was about as clutch as clutch can get in last season’s playoffs. He was the main closer that the Bucks used whenever they needed someone to make a shot at the end of games. He delivered every time and was clearly one of the main reasons why the Bucks eventually became NBA Champions.

Horst never gave up on Middleton and kept a majority of the team’s core together, even after their postseason disappointments in the two seasons prior to their title. His willingness to continue to go all-in is what ultimately made the championship possible. He could’ve given up on the team’s core when they couldn’t deliver, but he continued to believe in what they would achieve in the end, becoming NBA Champions.
