Rodney Hood has underwhelmed for the Milwaukee Bucks so far this season

There wasn’t as much fanfare with Rodney Hood coming into the season as there was for Nwora, but we still had some relatively solid expectations for him. He’s not the player that we saw early in his career or just before he suffered a severe Achilles injury but we’ve seen glimpses of why the Bucks brought him in this offseason.

The biggest letdown, for me, from Hood has been his 3-point shot. He’s had some hit-or-miss seasons with his 3-ball but was a 37.2 percent shooter from behind the arc in his first 341 games of his career before his Achilles injury.

Last year he shot 30.1 percent on 113 attempts, but you could have chalked that up to him still working his way back from one of the worst injuries a basketball player can suffer. Surely he would be better in his second season after the injury, right?

He has taken over 45 attempts from 3 so far this season and is shooting 29.8 percent, so about the same which is not ideal.

What I will say for Hood is that his overall efficiency, while not good, has improved from last season. That is thanks to him shooting around 46 percent on his 2-point attempts, which is closer to his career average of 46.7 percent in his first 341 games before his injury.

Hood, like Nwora, has a chance to get his footing with more opportunity and he took advantage already by having his best game of the season against the New York Knicks. Hopefully, it’s the start of Hood getting out of his early funk.
