A Christmas gift for each Milwaukee Bucks player this holiday season
Milwaukee Bucks: Bobby Portis, Javonte Smart, Mike Budenholzer, Javin DeLaurier
Bobby Portis: A nice raise (with the Bucks) in the offseason
There’s not much I can gift Bobby Portis on the court. He’s been fantastic in basically every facet while filling in for Lopez as a starter. Sure, you can quibble with some things on defense but there’s obvious improvement there and you want to see that continue.
Due to his impressive performance, he’s likely due for a(nother) raise this offseason. He took a discount to stay with the Bucks this past offseason and he can get one from them again this offseason. It won’t be as much as other teams will be able to offer him since it will be an Early Bird Rights extension, but fans will have to hope that loyalty and his love for Milwaukee will prevail once again.
Javonte Smart: More time to develop
I’ve been intrigued by the limited minutes that Javonte Smart has gotten so far and there could be an NBA role player in there given the right development. He, like Mamukelashvili, will get more time in the G League once the Bucks are healthy enough, Perhaps the Milwaukee Bucks found something with Smart.
Bonus – Mike Budenholzer: More respect
It has been a fantastic coaching job from Mike Budenholzer this season and hopefully, fans, as well as national media, will begin to show him more respect as an NBA champion with the job he has done.
Double bonus – Javin DeLaurier: A promising first NBA stint
He’s on the team, even if it’s for 10 days, so he gets a gift as well and it’s pretty simple. It will be DeLaurier’s first time in the NBA so when his name is eventually called, hopefully, it is a smooth debut that catches some eyes.
The Milwaukee Bucks have already given fans an early Christmas gift with their first NBA championship in 50 years, but I’m sure they wouldn’t mind another this summer as well.
