The verdict on Bleacher Report’s Brook Lopez trade for the Milwaukee Bucks

The Bucks will not be trading Lopez away anytime soon. Although his health remains up in the air, even a glimmer of belief that he could return for the postseason is enough to make the team keep him around. There are few players in the league that could replicate what he brings to the table on both ends, and no offense to Favors, but he is not among them. Favors is a fine player, but not one worth trading Lopez and a second round pick on top of it to acquire.

As they wait for Lopez to potentially return, the Bucks will continue to rely on Portis and Cousins to handle most of the duties at the center position. Of course, they also always have the option to put Antetokounmpo at center, which has proven time and time again to be a lethal concoction, no matter who is around him. The team has the personnel at the position to stay afloat without their man in the middle in Lopez, and they should keep rolling with these three for now.

If Lopez was set to miss the remainder of the season, then it might make sense for the Bucks to gauge the trade market for reinforcements. However, that sliver of hope that he could return this season should give the team reason to keep him around unless a bonafide superstar becomes available, which just seems unlikely.
