Top 5 Milwaukee Bucks moments of 2021: A year to remember
No. 1 – The Milwaukee Bucks win their first NBA championship in 50 years
A rather easy choice for the best Bucks’ moment of 2021 is the end of the championship drought, as, after 50 years, the Bucks became NBA Champions once again. Defying some very tough odds, being down 0-2 in not one but two series, a 7.1 percent chance to win each time, according to LandofBasketball.com. The Bucks accomplished that feat not once but twice. Perhaps the best part of winning Game 6 was the fact that the Bucks were able to celebrate with their home fans in Milwaukee.
So many great moments came out of this series, after being down 16 points early in game five the big three for the Bucks put the team on their backs in a massive way. All three put together massive stat lines. Antetokounmpo led the way with 32 points, nine rebounds, and six assists, Middleton contributed 29 points, seven rebounds, and five assists., while Holiday gave the Bucks 27 points, four rebounds, and 13 assists in addition to three steals as they surged ahead to a 3-2 series lead and a chance to win the title at home.
Game 5 gave the Bucks another incredible highlight that will live in the minds of fans forever when Holiday stripped Devin Booker and went in transition for a lob to Giannis who finished the dunk and drew a foul on Chris Paul.
Game 6 was all about Antetokounmpo, who hyperextended his knee against the Atlanta Hawks just two weeks earlier. He put on an intense display of determination, putting up 50 points, 14 rebounds, and adding five blocks. 33 of Antetokounmpo’s 50 came in the second half of Game 6.
After the final horn sounded, the celebration began, and more iconic photos and moments were created. Before doing a post-game interview, Antetokounmpo ran to put on an I heart Jim Paschke t-shirt to honor the retiring TV announcer.
Perhaps the most enduring memory of the celebration is Antetokounmpo sitting by himself, with tears coming down, confetti falling on him, quietly reflecting on reaching one of his ultimate goals.
We love you Giannis, thank you for making 2021 a year to never forget.
