Should the Milwaukee Bucks trade for Jalen Smith?

There are plenty of reasons why people may be on the fence about Smith. He is young and has plenty of work to do to be an excellent big in the NBA. With that said, the Milwaukee Bucks should absolutely pursue a trade for Smith.

Smith could make an immediate impact in Milwaukee’s rebounding, something that has certainly been an area of concern in Lopez’s absence. Smith’s drawbacks as a 3-point shooter are outweighed by the tools he has as a well-rounded player in the low post. A big who can fill in for Lopez is something the Bucks desperately need. If Lopez comes back for a playoff run, Smith could be a seamless fit into Milwaukee’s bench unit. It is also likely that the Bucks won’t have to give up much in order to acquire Smith. All in all, there are plenty of reasons the Bucks would benefit in pursuing Smith as the deadline approaches.

The February 10th trade deadline is almost here, and the Bucks are going to be a team to watch. In the quest to repeat, Milwaukee could be looking to add valuable pieces, and while Smith may not be the flashiest name on the market, he could certainly help bolster their frontcourt right now. Among the potential frontcourt targets for the champs, Smith makes sense to pursue.
