The verdict on this Jalen Smith trade for the Milwaukee Bucks

The Bucks should absolutely kick the tires on a trade for Smith, particularly if this is the package in question. Despite his inexperience, Smith could be a solid backup center on this Milwaukee team as they await the potential return of Lopez. Rather than waste away on Phoenix’s bench, he could get a genuine shot to play some minutes with Milwaukee as they fight through this season.

This would be the definition of a low-risk, high-reward move for the Bucks to fix their current center predicament. If Smith hypothetically comes in and plays well, he has a chance to help the defending champions in their quest for a repeat and raise his value once free agency hits after the season. If not, then the Bucks can let him walk after the season and all it took to get him was two expiring contracts and a second round pick. Either way, the Bucks need a big man before the trade deadline, and Smith fits the billing.

Time will tell how the Bucks truly feel about the 21-year-old big man in the next coming weeks. Yet, one thing that remains certain is that they could certainly use some more reinforcements in the frontcourt, and there are few options out there that are more obtainable and reasonable for the Milwaukee Bucks to pursue.
