The verdict with Clutch Points’ Montrezl Harrell trade for Milwaukee Bucks

This is a difficult deal to fully assess for the Bucks. While Harrell has his share of pros that could make him a solid contributor to this team – his scoring, rebounding, and energy – there are also a handful of reasons that should make the team hesitant to trade for him – his size, lack of a jumper, and less than outstanding defense.

One must also consider how Harrell would potentially fit with the Bucks in the postseason. Playing with the Los Angeles Lakers last season, he played just 39 games in their first round matchup with the Phoenix Suns, unable to get off the bench in meaningful minutes. The Bucks may be justifiably hesitant to make a move for a player that has trouble staying out on the floor in the playoffs, given their championship aspirations.

While Harrell could be a solid piece, at least during the regular season, there are better options out there that Milwaukee’s front office should consider first. They could use a legitimate center at the moment, rather than someone like Harrell, who is a rare case at 6-foot-7. There are targets out on the market that fit this description, like Mohamed Bamba, Mike Muscala, or Nerlens Noel, and the Bucks should focus on them first. Yet, if none of those names are available, Harrell could be a solid acquisition for the time being.
