The Milwaukee Bucks should monitor Gary Harris in the buyout market following Pat Connaughton’s injury

After he was not traded at the deadline, Gary Harris has been under surveillance by teams across the association. Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer recently reported that Harris could potentially hit the buyout market if he was not moved, and if the Orlando Magic do buy him out, the Bucks must make a spirited run at him.

Averaging 11.6 points per game while shooting 36.2 percent from three over his eight-year career, Harris would provide a scoring punch that the Bucks need with Connaughton out. Given that their bench ranked 29th in points per game this season even with Connaughton playing, the Bucks will be in trouble if they cannot find someone to step up in his place, and Harris could be the perfect fit, particularly due to his solid 3-point shooting.

In addition to his offense, Harris is a quality defender. Although he is not the most versatile, he is capable of taking on other guards and making life tough for them. He could undoubtedly make his presence felt in Connaughton’s absence on that side of the floor, hypothetically giving Milwaukee another strong piece to help stay afloat without their best second unit defender.

The only question is whether or not the Magic will buy out Harris or opt to keep him on the roster. That answer will likely come sooner rather than later, and the Bucks should keep an eye out.
