Examining Jevon Carter’s fit with the Milwaukee Bucks

There was a point initially in the season where it looked like the Bucks had too many guards on the roster, but now, they hardly have enough. Donte DiVincenzo and Rodney Hood were traded at the deadline to make room for Serge Ibaka, while Pat Connaughton and George Hill have both missed time recently due to injuries. The Bucks simply needed available players in the backcourt, which is something that Carter gives them on impact.

The 26-year-old can immediately slide into the backup point guard role behind Jrue Holiday as the champs await further news on Hill. The veteran has been battling neck soreness as of late, which has kept him out of the lineup since January 28 and it could potentially keep him out of the lineup depending on how it progressed over the All-Star break. Regardless, Carter will give the Bucks some much-needed insurance in the backcourt with a solid second or third-string point guard.

Sure, there will be some questions about where Carter fits when the Bucks are healthy, but that is something to worry about down the road. Right now, they are far from full strength, and someone like Carter could help the team in the short term by playing quality minutes off the bench. Though he is not the flashiest backup point guard, Carter will fit in well with the Bucks, given their needs at the moment.
