Assessing the pros and cons of the Milwaukee Bucks eyeing Tyreke Evans
By Dalton Sell
The verdict on whether the Milwaukee Bucks should sign Tyreke Evans
Bringing in Evans to finish the season would be a low-risk, potentially high-reward move for the Bucks to consider making. The team could use an extra body on the wing, particularly one that is known for its reputable scoring ability. While he would not be a seismic addition, Evans checks off several boxes for the Milwaukee Bucks as they explore filling their open roster spot.
The Bucks have had some success with mid-season free agent pickups this season, with the two prime examples being Wesley Matthews and Jevon Carter. Since coming aboard in December, the Bucks have gotten quality production from Matthews on the defensive end, and it looks as if he is destined to play a role in the postseason because of it. As for Carter, the defensive ace has proven to be an even bigger surprise for the Bucks due to his pestering defense and fantastic shooting. While their success does not guarantee that Evans would follow a similar path, the Bucks clearly have an eye for hidden gems, and perhaps the former Rookie of the Year could be next up.
It may ultimately come down to how well Evans performs with the Herd, which is justifiable on the part of Milwaukee. With Bembry’s injury keeping him out for the remainder of the season, adding a player to this roster should be a focus for Milwaukee as an insurance policy. At the end of the day, Evans fits the billing in that regard as an established veteran with no shortage of prior experience playing at the highest level. The Bucks have expressed interest in him for a reason, and it would be understandable for them to sign him.
