Jevon Carter showed why he deserves more minutes in the Milwaukee Bucks’ regular rotation

After a hot start with the Milwaukee Bucks that saw him carve out a legitimate role for himself, Jevon Carter found himself in unfamiliar territory recently. The guard did not log a single minute against the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday and played a few seconds during Thursday’s contest with the Brooklyn Nets. Many questioned why he had not been seeing time lately after playing well early on, but he thankfully got a chance to shine against the Clippers, which should improve his chances of playing a more prominent role for the Bucks moving forward.

Starting at point guard for the Bucks, Carter was fantastic offensively as he tallied 18 points on an insanely efficient 8-of-10 shooting, including 2-of-2 from long distance. This marked Carter’s best scoring game since joining the Bucks as he was outstanding all game long. Though his scoring was his most notable contribution of the night, Carter also made an impact as a facilitator as he dished out eight assists, which also marked his highest in a Bucks uniform yet. Overall, it was great to not only see Carter back out on the floor for the Bucks after he played a non-existent role recently, but it was even better to see him excel in his 30 minutes of action.

At this point, there is no denying that Carter has earned the backup point guard job for the Bucks. He has been excellent since he came aboard, having given the team a much-needed sparkplug off the bench due to his defense and electric scoring. This is no disrespect to George Hill, but Carter is the better option off the bench at this point, and there is much more to go off of to back that up than just last game. Hopefully this phenomenal performance from Carter last night helps get him back into the rotation on a regular basis.
