Assessing Luca Vildoza’s fit and role with the Milwaukee Bucks

Vildoza adds another piece to the puzzle that is Milwaukee’s incredibly talented backcourt, and it will be interesting to see where he fits or what type of role he plays.

Given that there is just one regular season game left to play until the playoffs, it would be hard to imagine that Vildoza gets legitimate playing time for the Bucks. Because he is the newcomer and has no experience with this team, in addition to recently coming off surgery, Vildoza will likely be taking a backseat in the rotation for the time being, which is entirely justifiable.

Looking at his on-court fit with the Milwaukee Bucks, two things that Vildoza brings to the roster is more scoring and shooting off the bench. Per Basketball Reference, Vildoza averaged 8.2 points per game while shooting 35.5 percent from 3-point territory across his last four seasons playing overseas with various clubs. The Bucks are always scouring the market for more 3-point shooters, and Vildoza could very well fit the billing in that regard.

If he does eventually take the court for the Bucks, that 3-point shot will be an interesting aspect of Vildoza’s game to monitor. Other guards such as Pat Connaughton and Grayson Allen have thrived in Milwaukee due to their 3-point shooting, and Vildoza’s success could hinge on that specific shot as well. When he is on the floor, it would not be too surprising if Vildoza is mainly utilized as a floor spacer, given his solid 3-point production overseas.

He will not play a significant role upon impact, but Vildoza has an opportunity to earn some time in the Milwaukee Bucks’ rotation down the line if he can shoot the three-ball consistently well.
